Granville is a wide, sandy beach located about half a mile to the south-east of the centre of Redcar, a popular seaside resort town on the North Yorkshire coast. At low tide, a vast sandy area, containing many rockpools, is exposed. Meanwhile, the relatively flat beach is dissected by a number of wooden groynes.  The beach becomes far smaller once the tide comes in. Popular activities at the beach include bathing, surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing, as well as hunting for marine life in the rockpools.  --> A promenade suitable for walking runs alongside the beach slightly raised from the sand, which can be reached down a short ramp. The promenade is backed by a large grassy area, separating it from the town. Roadside parking is available along Coast Road, adjacent to this grassy area. Visitors will also find a café here. Across the road from the grassy area, the beach is backed by Zetland Park which offers facilities such as tennis courts and a large children’s play area. Further facilities can be found in the centre of Redcar, including an amusement park, a lifeboat museum, and many shops, pubs, places to eat, and places to stay. The closest railway station from the beach is Redcar East, about 500 meters away, reached down Lilac Grove.
