About This Place

Visitors to Grange-Over-Sands may be disappointed not to find a beach as such but they will find a lovely long promenade running alongside a wide expanse of saltmarsh.Β  The saltmarsh itself is unsuitable for walking because of dangerous quicksand, but a walk along the promenade is highly recommended. --> There are views across Morecambe Bay, and the Victorian promenade itself is evocative of days gone by.Β  There are plenty of benches to relax on whilst watching the world go by and taking in the views. In the summer months there are well-kept flower beds and a variety of ice-cream stalls and cafes. The fact that the promenade is car-free makes it a good place to bring children to practice riding bikes or scooters.Β  There is an attractive park with a duck pond.Β  Further along the promenade is a disused lido which has been Grade II listed.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for a hassle-free dog beach in Cumbria? Grange-over-Sands Beach is your answer! Dogs are welcome all year round, perfect for energetic pups needing a good run. Expect a mix of sand and shingle under paw; ideal for a gentle paddle. Parking is available nearby, though facilities are limited directly on the beach. Always check tide times before visiting, as the water can come in quickly. While generally safe for swimming, keep a close eye on your dog. We recommend this spot for well-socialized dogs who love open spaces. A fantastic, relaxed beach for a seaside stroll!
