About This Place

Visitors come to Gorleston beach for the delightful 2 mile stretch of clean, golden sand which curves around the bay.  It makes a great destination for a traditional bucket-and-spade outing and is not only popular with young families but surfers, body-boarders and kite-flyers. --> One of the beach’s draws is the vast expanse of sand when the tide is out - perfect for building sand castles. Other family-friendly credentials include the lifeguard patrol during peak season. Deckchairs and wind breakers are also available to hire. Just 3 miles from the centre of Great Yarmouth, the resort of Gorleston conjures up an atmosphere of days gone by and offers a quieter, less crowded alternative to the bustle of the beaches at Great Yarmouth. There are grassy cliffs towards the end of the beach and the Norfolk Coast Path runs from the beach along the cliff tops.  In times of bad weather this path can be closed and signposts will indicate alternative routes for walkers. A promenade just under one mile in length runs alongside the beach and has a number of benches, allowing strollers to rest while taking in views of the bay.  At the end of the beach nearest the town is a small parade of shops and cafes together with a three-tier viewing platform. There is a paddling pool and a charming pond for sailing model boats, built in 1927. There are two car parks, one near to the Gorleston Pavilion Theatre, and another halfway along the beach.  Both car parks are free. There is also some roadside parking available along the road at the top of the beach The beach offers all the facilities a visitor would expect including public and disabled toilets. There is a cafe halfway along the promenade, and at the town end, there are cafes, bars and gift shop. In addition there is good disabled access. There are restrictions on dog walking during the summer months, with fines, but out of season the beach is dog-friendly, with bins for dog waste.

💡 Our Take

Nestled in Norfolk, Gorleston Beach is a pooch paradise welcoming dogs all year round. With its vast sandy stretches, it's perfect for a spirited game of fetch or a leisurely sniffing sesh. The fine, soft sand is easy on paws, making it especially ideal for puppies and older dogs. Convenient parking abuts the beach, with nearby amenities ensuring a comfortable visit. While generally safe for swimming, always keep an eye on sea conditions. Tail-wagging moments abound, but remember to pack plenty of water, as there are limited shaded areas. DogParkUK wholeheartedly recommends Gorleston Beach—pamper your pup in sandy bliss!
