About This Place

About 1 hours’ drive from Inverness, nestling in the shadow of Ben Bhraggie, is the attractive seaside village of Golspie. It has shops, cafes, public toilets and all the facilities to be expected in a small seaside destination.  The place has an interesting history.  In the 19th century the original fishing village was expanded to accommodate families evicted during the clearances.  --> The North Beach is a mixture of sand, shingle and rocks, which curves gently round the bay.  There are good views over the Moray Firth. There is an attractive harbour with a tidal pier stretching out into the Dornoch Firth.  The pier divides the North Beach from the sandier South Beach. Just north of the village is spectacular Dunrobin Castle, one of the finest houses in northern Scotland.  The formal gardens are well worth a visit. Free parking is available around Golspie.  Driving into the village on the A9, follow signs to the beach car park.

💡 Our Take

Golspie North Beach in the Scottish Highlands is a wonderful year-round dog-friendly escape! Picture golden sands stretching out, perfect for energetic zoomies. Your furry friend will adore a freedom to roam the beach, with no seasonal restrictions. Parking is available nearby the beach and nearest facilities, with shops in Golspie village. Be mindful of strong currents– always keep a close eye on your dog, especially during high tide. This space is fantastic for dogs who love open spaces, offering tranquility for the anxious dog and vast terrain for big dogs to stretch those legs!
