Visitors to Formby Beach will be rewarded with a vast expanse of clean golden sand, backed by extensive grassy dunes and wooded areas.  This is a popular destination which is easily accessed from Liverpool. --> The flat sand is suitable for playing beach games, building sandcastles and sunbathing. Walkers will find plenty of footpaths in the dunes and will find all kinds of interesting objects washed up along the beach, including clusters of fish eggs, crabs, small jellyfish and shells.  There is a lifeguard service covering part of Formby beach during the summer. In addition notices warning of potential hazards such as the speed of the incoming tide are in place along the beach.From the beach at Formby there are views down towards The Wirral and North Wales beyond. This is also a good place to watch enormous cargo ships sailing in and out of the Mersey Estuary.  The wind turbines of Liverpool Bay are also visible from the beach.The town of Formby itself lies around 2 miles east of the beach.  The nearest railway station to the Lifeboat Road part of the beach is Formby, about one mile away. Plenty of pay-for parking is available, although it is a 15-minute walk from the car park to the beach, through the dunes.Access to the beach itself may be difficult for those with mobility problems, although the boardwalk at the car park is wheelchair friendly.
