A little quieter than the two main Bournemouth beaches at East Cliff and West Cliff, Fisherman’s Walk is a family-friendly sandy beach with a pleasantly lively atmosphere. The beach is mainly sand with some shingle, and has beach huts and deckchairs for hire. During the summer months dogs are not permitted, although there is a dog exercise area in between Fisherman’s Walk and Southbourne beach.  --> The pleasant promenade makes it easy to walk to Boscombe; cycling is not permitted in high season (July and August. It’s generally safe for swimming, and there is a lifeguard service in operation in June, July, and August. It’s suitable for canoeing and kayaking, fishing, jet-skiing, sailing, and surfing. Fisherman’s Walk beach holds a Blue Flag award. There are food and drink outlets and toilets available, and from the cliff top there’s a dramatic view from the entrance to Poole Harbour as far as the Isle of Wight. The cliff lift runs between Easter and the end of October, or there is the option to take a gentle stroll down to the beach through the Fisherman’s zigzag path. In summer 2021, three new fixed electric BBQ facilities were installed: two are designed to be accessible for wheelchairs. The BBQs switch off automatically after 20 minutes of cooking time, and are available from 10am to 10pm on a first-come, first-served basis. There is free parking available on the road at the top of the cliffs, as well as a crazy golf course and a children’s playground. Access is from Southbourne Overcliffe Drive.

Fishermans Walk Beach in Bournemouth is a real gem for dog owners. What makes it brilliant is that dogs are welcome here all year round! The beach boasts soft sand, perfect for digging and zoomies. Parking can be tricky near the beach, so arrive early. While lifeguard presence varies, always supervise your dog near the water. It's generally safe for swimming, but keep an eye on the tides; strong currents can sometimes occur. This place is wonderful for socialised dogs who enjoy playing, but avoid it if you are unsure of your dog's behaviour around other dogs. Enjoy your seaside adventure!
