About This Place

Findochty is an old fishing village, although today most of the boats that sit in the quaint harbour are used for outings rather than being genuine working fishing vessels. To the west of the harbour there is a small, rocky beach, where children might enjoy exploring the rock pools. The beach is backed by a small caravan park. It looks out onto the Moray Firth. --> There is roadside parking adjacent to the harbour along Commercial Street. There is also some parking to the west of the harbour along Jubilee Terrace, as well as public toilets, a children’s playground and a pub. In the village there is a shop, a pharmacy, and a post office. The area is popular for walking, and there is a cliff-top path, offering spectacular views to the east of the village to the town of Portknockie. There are many caves and inlets along the way, as well as a wide variety of sea birds to be spotted.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Findochty Beach in Moray, Scotland, is a fantastic spot for dogs! With no restrictions, pups can enjoy the sandy beach year-round. This makes it perfect for energetic dogs who love a good run and splash in the sea. Parking is available nearby, though immediate beachside facilities are limited, so plan ahead. The calm waters offer relatively safe swimming, but always supervise your furry friend. Ideal for well-behaved dogs used to open spaces; however, be mindful of strong currents further out. Keep your dog on a lead if they don't have reliable recall. Happy splashing!
