About This Place

The attractive seaside resort town of Felixstowe has much to offer the visitor, one of the main attractions being the 4-mile stretch of sheltered sand and shingle beach, backed by a promenade.Β  --> At the heart of the beach is the Edwardian Pier which in its day was the longest pier in the country at an impressive 2,600 feet. Much of the pier was demolished after the Second World War. The area of beach south of the pier is known as South Beach, and is sandier than the mainly shingled North Beach.Β  South Beach has itself recently undergone significant refurbishment. There are a range of traditional resort amusements to be found close to this part of the beach including a choice of cafes, shops and kiosks selling ice-creams, and whatever else might be needed for a day at the seaside. The only activity permitted on South Beach is swimming.Β Β  The area around Felixstowe has some good walks, including the Martello Coastal Path, as well as a choice of cycle routes.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Nestled in Suffolk, Felixstowe South Beach is a perfect dog-friendly getaway. With its expansive sandy shore, it offers ample space for dogs to frolic year-round, unrestricted by seasonal bans. This makes it especially ideal for lively puppies needing a good run. A tip for visitors: the nearby parking can fill up quickly, so arriving early is wise. Though there's no specific swim safety, the gentle waves are generally safe for your furry friends. For anxious or older dogs, the quieter atmosphere during weekdays offers a peaceful escape. DogParkUK recommends bringing essentials as facilities are limited nearby.
