Elgol beach, on the Isle of Skye, is one for the photographers. Elgol beach itself is a mix of pebbles, rocks, and shingle, with numerous geological features scattered along the shore. You’ll find smooth boulders, intricate rock formations, and at low tide, rock pools teeming with life. With its remote, peaceful setting Elgol is a haven for wildlife. The waters around the beach are home to seals, otters, and a variety of seabirds. Further out in the loch you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins or even basking sharks during the summer months. Boat trips from Elgol’s little harbour offer an opportunity to explore the area further and visit nearby locations such as Loch Coruisk or the Isle of Soay. Given its remote location and unspoilt nature you won’t find anything in the way of facilities on Elgol beach itself, so bring everything you need, including food and water. The village of Elgol, however, does offer a few facilities, including a small shop, toilets and parking.  The road to Elgol is narrow and winding, but the journey itself offers some splendid views and is part of the adventure.
