About This Place

As the name suggests this lovely stretch of sand is situated on the east coast of South Ronaldsay, the most southerly of the Orkney Islands. --> Eastside beach is made up of a crescent of golden sand backed by low dunes and fields beyond. On the northern headland overlooking the beach is the chapel and graveyard of St Peter’s Kirk. A little further along is the Millennium Stone, a 2 metre tall standing stone created to celebrate the year 2,000. Engraved with a dragon head, Viking longship and Pictish symbols the stone also has a hole which is said to represent an oath.

💡 Our Take

Eastside Beach, nestled in the picturesque Cotswolds, is a dog-friendly haven ideal for a delightful day out with your furry friend. The beach's soft, golden sands provide a perfect spot for your dog to frolic, dig, or play fetch. Dogs are welcome year-round, making it a fantastic destination for pooches of all types, especially adventurous big dogs and energetic puppies. Parking is conveniently located nearby, though it can fill up quickly on sunny weekends. While the waters here offer safe paddling conditions, always keep an eye out for strong currents. Remember to pack water and snacks, as facilities are limited.
