East Cliff Beach
π Lyme Regis, Dorset
About This Place
If you head in the opposite direction to everybody else in Lyme Regis then you will likely arrive at East Cliff beach. Just beyond Church beach this is likely to be the quietest stretch of beach in the town. --> Unlike the other beaches in Lyme Regis there isnβt much in the way of a backdrop or facilities at East Cliff Beach. Instead there is a rather austere sea wall which supports a promenade leading to Charmouth beach. If you do walk round to Charmouth beach be aware you might not be able to get back this way if the tide is in. Care should also be taken when walking past the cliff faces along this section as they are prone to rock falls and mudslides, particularly during winter storms.Known as the Spittles these cliffs are also known as one of the best fossil hunting spots on the coast. Alternative access to the beach is from the Charmouth Road car park although it is worth noting there are 115 steps down (i.e. back up!) to the beach.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a simple, dog-friendly beach escape? East Cliff Beach is your answer! While details are slim, the real draw is that dogs are welcome YEAR-ROUND. Imagine those happy zoomies on soft sand! For amenities, you'll want to check nearby towns but parking's usually available. We're unsure how safe it is for swimming, so closely watch your water-loving pups. East Cliff is probably best for confident canines who like to run free without crowds. Our advice? Bring your own water and poop bags β let's keep this gem pristine for everyone. Your furry friend will thank you!
