Located between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, this well-maintained, sandy beach is one of the two main beaches at Bournemouth. East Cliff beach has a reputation for being one of the cleanest along this section of the Dorset coast. It is also said that the bay here benefits from its own microclimate with a reputation for mild weather. --> The beach is approximately one and a half miles long, and offers an excellent expanse of fine, pale-coloured sand which slopes gently into the sea. Behind the beach is a promenade and behind that, Bournemouth East Cliff itself, with its many hotels, dominates the skyline. There are excellent facilities of all kinds on and around the beach. Beach huts can be rented from Bournemouth Council and deck chairs are available for hire. Because of the clean sand, excellent facilities and easy access, this beach can get quite busy on warm days in the summer holidays. A road with parking spaces runs parallel to the beach, making it easily accessible to those with mobility problems. In the summer months, a lift operates to transport visitors up and down the cliffs. There are two car parks next to the beach; one in Bath Road South and the other in Bath Road North. Busses run frequently between Bournemouth railway station and the beach. The town of Bournemouth has an excellent range of seaside and other activities. At the end of August/start of September, the Bournemouth Air Festival offers four days of spectacular flying displays as well as all sorts of entertainments.
