Dunoon West Bay
📍 Dunoon, Argyll
About This Place
Dunoon, on the west shore of the Firth of Clyde, is the largest town in the Argyll area. Attractive villas, built in the 19th century as holiday homes for wealthy Glaswegians line the seafront. There is a Victorian pier and a ferry terminal taking passengers across the Clyde to Gourock. --> Because the town is more easily accessed by ferry than by road it has something of an island atmosphere. The town is built around two bays. West Bay has a shingle beach. Dunoon Castle lies at one end of the beach. Thought to be 12th century in origin, this was once a major military stronghold. Today all that remains is a romantic ruin.
💡 Our Take
Dunoon West Bay, nestled in the charming region of Argyll and Bute, is a dog-friendly haven. This inviting beach welcomes dogs year-round, making it perfect for spirited pups who love open spaces. The soft, golden sand is ideal for playful prances and paw prints, and the shore offers ample room for big dogs to stretch their legs. Nearby facilities ensure convenience for pet parents, though swimming may require caution due to variable tides. A must-visit for owners of energetic or adventurous canines, just remember to pack extra water as there are limited shaded areas to cool off.
