The predominantly sandy beach at Drummore looks out from the southern end of the Rhins of Galloway Peninsula to the north east, back towards the Scottish mainland. --> Drummore is in fact the most southerly located town in Scotland. Thanks to the Gulf Stream, this area enjoys a milder than expected climate and some varieties of palm tree are able to grow here, a selection of which overlook the beach, giving the area an almost Mediterranean feel. The beach and town, with its small harbour, are particularly popular for boating enthusiasts. Walking is also a common pastime in the area, with a popular walk taking visitors to Drummore Castle. The beach is backed by a grassy area, offering excellent views of the surrounding coastline. Roadside parking is available in the town, and the beach can be reached via a slipway. The town also has a choice of places to eat out.
