About This Place
This long, pleasant stretch of sandy beach, just north of Hartlepool, is named after the caravan parks that it backs on to. These are largely out of sight from the beach, sitting on the clifftops at the northern end. Further down the beach are sand dunes which form part of the Durham Coast National Nature Reserve. --> Back in the 1950s Crimdon was one of the most popular spots on the coast with day-trippers from the working towns inland heading here in droves. Since then things have become a lot quieter. Usually quiet, there are some jaded reminders of the beachβs heyday along with talk of re-generation.
π‘ Our Take
Head to Crimdon beach in County Durham for a fantastic dog-friendly day out! Your furry friends are welcome year-round, free to roam and play on the lovely stretches of sand. Crimdon is perfect for energetic dogs who love a good run and splash in the sea. We recommend checking tide times before you go. While facilities are limited directly on the beach, you'll find amenities nearby. Parking is available. Swim safety is a priority, be aware of currents! Crimdon can get busy, so it's great for socialised dogs, perhaps not ideal for very anxious pups.
