About This Place

This long, sandy stretch of beach, is a pleasant stroll north of Hartlepool. Along with industrial relics, the backdrop is largely comprised of the greens of Hartlepool Golf Club. Beyond here are dunes which form part of the Durham Coast National Nature Reserve. --> At the southern end of the beach is a most impressive reminder of the coastโ€™s industrial past. Steetley Pier is a 2,000 foot long wooden structure dating back to the 1960s. It was built to pipe seawater to the magnesia works that were once located here. If you were planning a pleasant stroll along the pier to take in the sea air you will be disappointed - whilst the pier itself was not demolished a substantial section was removed to prevent access. Back in the 1950s Crimdon was one of the most popular spots on the coast with day-trippers from the working towns inland heading here in droves. Since then things have become a lot quieter. Usually quiet, there are some jaded reminders of the beachโ€™s heyday along with talk of re-generation.

๐Ÿ’ก Our Take

Crimdon Dene Beach, nestled in County Durham's picturesque coastline, welcomes dogs year-round on its expansive sandy landscape. With ample parking available nearby, it's the perfect getaway for energetic big dogs to frolic freely without worry. The gentle sands make it especially great for puppies finding their paws. However, swimming can be unpredictable, so always keep an eye on the tides and currents to ensure safety. Nearest facilities are a short walk away, providing easy access to essentials. At DogParkUK, we recommend Crimdon Dene for its liberating open space, ensuring your pup can enjoy both exploration and relaxation.
