About This Place

Cold Knap beach is a long stretch of steeply shelving pebbles, although at low tide some sand is revealed. --> The beach at Cold Knap is located around a mile from the main resort beach at Barry. As a result it is always quieter, although it still gets busy in the summer. Facilities are good here and the area itself is pleasant with a fairly affluent feel to it. Cold Knap even has something for the geologists out there; some fine examples of horizontal sedimentary strata can be seen in the cliffs towards the western end of the beach.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Cold Knap Beach in Barry Island, South Wales, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly haven! Your furry friends will adore exploring the sand and shingle mix. The lack of restrictions makes it super appealing. Parking is available nearby, though it can get busy. While there isn't a lifeguard, the generally calm waters make for safer paddles. However, always keep a close eye on your dog!. It's relatively sheltered, making it brilliant for puppies getting used to the seaside or perhaps even slightly anxious dogs. Big dogs will have plenty of space to run! We think you'll love it.
