Coastguards Beach
π Ivybridge, Devon
About This Place
One of a trio of beaches within the Flete Estate on the banks of the River Erme. As the tide goes out Coastguards Beach becomes a generous expanse of golden sand. However, as the tide returns it shrinks to a very cosy strip of sand. --> The name of the beach comes from the row of old coastguard cottages that sit above the beach, watching out over the river mouth. The slipway here makes Coastguards Beach more accessible than the other beaches nearby. It is also the recommended low tide crossing point for the estuary. Although you have to know exactly what time the tides are - this information is displayed on the slip. It is also possible to walk around from neighbouring Mothecombe beach on the low tide.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a dog-friendly coastal escape? We at DogParkUK recommend Coastguards Beach (location not specified) for year-round sandy fun! While parking and facilities information is scarce, the "restrictions: None" detail means pups can enjoy off-lead freedom ANY time. We don't have details of swim safety, so keep your dog close! With soft sand under paw, itβs good for digging. The freedom suits big dogs, but puppies or nervous dogs need a watchful eye. *Pro Tip:* Pack plenty of drinking water, as readily available freshwater might be limited. Enjoy the simple pleasure of this unrestricted beach!
