Clovelly has a small pebble beach just below the car-free, historic village. On both sides of the narrow bay here there are concrete platforms, which are popular with sunbathers in warm weather. --> Apart from the picturesque village, a major draw to Clovelly is the diverse marine wildlife to be found in the bay.  The area is particularly good for snorkelling. The beach is protected from the strongest waves by the old harbour wall. Because the village is car-free, visitors have to park at the top of the village and walk down the steep, cobbled streets to access the beach. There is a Land Rover service that takes guests who don’t fancy the steep walk through the village down from the car park to the Red Lion Pub at the bottom of the hill. Although it’s not the most convenient arrangement, it ensures that the village keeps all of its charm and character. All the amenities you need for a day on the beach can be found In the village where there are public toilets, shops, pubs and restaurants. The beach is right next to the South West Coast Path, and the section between Clovelly and Mouthmill is one of its most spectacular parts of this beautiful walking trail.

Clovelly Beach isn't like other sandy expanses, but it’s a great adventure in Devon! Dogs are welcome all year, perfect for off-season romps. Instead of sand, it has pebbles, great for sturdy paws. Parking is above the village, so be prepared for a steep walk down. You’ll find shops and pubs at the bottom, very handy. Swimming can be tricky with the waves, so keep a close eye on your pups. This is ideal for active dogs who love a good hike and aren’t intimidated by the sea. Tip: Consider dog booties if the pebbles are too hot in summer!
