Cheswick Sands
π Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland
About This Place
Arguably the biggest beach on the Northumberland coast, Cheswick Sands is a great spot for those wanting a bit of space to themselves and will usually oblige in blowing away any cobwebs. The beach here froms one vast continuous expanse of golden sand as it becomes Cocklawbun beach to the north and Goswick to the south. All this open beach creates some stunning vistas. On a clear day you can see past Berwick-upon-Tweed to the border with Scotland, while the views southwards will lead the eye to Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle. --> To the back of the beach are dunes of near white sand which can sometimes offer a little shelter from the wind. Those walking the coastal trail will probably be more appreciative of the compacted sand lower down the beach. And it isnβt just people who enjoy the wide open space of Cheswick Sands. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year and will love careering around the low tide sands.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a boundless Northumberland beach for your best friend? We at DogParkUK think Cheswick Sands is paw-some! Dogs are welcome year-round to scamper freely on the vast expanse of lovely golden sand. Parking's available nearby, but be aware that facilities are very limited, so pack water. The North Sea here can be choppy so stay alert and keep a close eye on your dog, especially during high tide. We reckon this beach is ideal for robust breeds needing a good run, but maybe not best for tiny pups due to the distance from the car park. Have fun!
