About This Place

The beach at Cayley Promenade is nestled in between the towns of Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sea. As it is further away from the town centre than most of Colwynโ€™s other beaches, it is one of the quieter sections of beach in the Colwyn Bay area. --> At low tide, the beach here is wide and sandy, and quite flat, meaning that puddles of water are often left behind by the tide.ย  These can provide hours of fun for younger children who might enjoy paddling and splashing in the water. Swimming and water sports are also popular pastimes in the area. The beach is split into sections by a number of groynes. When the tide comes in, it covers nearly the entire beach. Dogs are banned on the beach from the beginning of May until the end of September. Roadside parking is plentiful along West Promenade, which backs the beach. Along the promenade, there is a cycle path, and a cafรฉ. The beach is accessed down a short flight of steps. Behind West Promenade, a grassy incline known as Cayley Embankment offers excellent views of the beach and surrounding coastline. Birdwatching here can be rewarding and if youโ€™re lucky you may even catch a glimpse of the occasional dolphin or seal bobbing up and down in the surf. Facilities such as a railway station, shops, places to eat, places to stay and toilets can be found in the delightful Victorian resort town of Colwyn Bay, to the east of the beach. The town is also home to a Welsh Mountain Zoo and Dinosaur World.

๐Ÿ’ก Our Take

Looking for a dog-friendly beach in North Wales? DogParkUK recommends Cayley Promenade Beach in Colwyn Bay! This sandy stretch welcomes dogs all year round, making it perfect for off-season adventures. Parking is readily available along the promenade, and nearby Colwyn Bay offers cafes and facilities. The sea is generally calm, but watch out for occasional strong currents. This wide open beach is ideal for big dogs that love to run, though little paws might prefer calmer areas. Remember to bring fresh water as there are no facilities on the beach itself!
