Nestled between the historic town of Tenby, Tenby Castle, and the St Catherine’s Island are the fine sands of Castle Beach. The beach here stretches southwards, joining up with the expanse of sand that is South Tenby Beach. --> At low tide, St Catherine’s Island is connected to the beach and can be reached on foot. The island is the site of a historic fort, reached up a steep flight of stairs, which offers spectacular views of the beach, town, and surrounding coastline. Whilst boats often dock along the stretch of beach between the castle and the island, the water south of St Catherine’s Island is shallow and excellent for swimming.The ruins of Tenby Castle, sitting in an elevated position on Castle Hill, overlooking the beach offer brilliant views and an excellent photo opportunity.In the town of Tenby, there is a large, pay-for car park at the end of South Cliff Street. There is a path down to South Beach from the car park, from where visitors can walk along a short distance to Castle Beach. On the streets overlooking the beach, nestled between the beach and the harbour, there are a few pubs and restaurants. The town caters well to tourists.On Castle Hill, overlooking the beach, visitors can find Tenby Museum and Art Gallery which is small, but offers a fascinating portrayal of the town’s history.
