About This Place
Set between the better known beach of Happisburgh and ever popular Sea Palling is a somewhat unspoilt gem - Cart Gap beach. Located at the end of a narrow, single-track lane the beach here is somewhat off the beaten track. --> As with all the beaches along this stretch of coast Cart Gap is lovely sandy beach. It also faces the same issues with erosion so the beach is divided up by wooden groynes and backed by a seawall. If you fancy a stroll along the beach you can pretty much go as far as you like in either direction. The beach here may change its name every mile or so, but in reality it is one long stretch of sand most of the way around the Norfolk coast. The beach is the site of the RNLI Happisburgh Lifeboat Station, although there is no lifeguard service at the beach. The original lifeboat station was in Happisburgh itself but the site was swallowed up by the relentless coastal erosion. A little way back up the lane from the car park is Smallsticks CafΓ©. Set in an old flint barn this tea room has a good selection of hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals. (Dogs allowed in the garden only).
π‘ Our Take
Looking for an unrestricted dog's paradise? DogParkUK recommends Cart Gap Beach, in beautiful Norfolk! This sandy expanse welcomes happy hounds year-round, letting them run free and chase waves to their heart's content. Parking is available, though nearest facilities are a short drive away. The relatively gentle waves are generally safe for confident swimmers. However, do keep an eye on the tides as they can change quickly. This vast beach is perfect for energetic bigger dogs who need to stretch their legs, but puppies will also love splashing around! Enjoy!
