About This Place
Carrick is a small bay, with a sandy beach sitting at its north eastern end. Carrick Bay separated from the rest of the much larger Fleet Bay to the north by a rocky headland which is about 200 meters long. The small beach here is reached down the end of a track road and has a very much unspoilt feel to it. It offers excellent views of the surrounding wild and mountainous headlands and coastline. --> The sheltered bay, about 100 meters wide, can be used for bathing and water sports such as canoeing. However, most visitors come to the area for the fantastic walking opportunities. There are many coastal paths and the Galloway Forest National Park is nearby. Dogs are allowed on the beach. Some roadside parking is available near to the beach. Thanks to its remoteness, the area is rarely busy. However, facilities are few and far between, so it might be a good idea to bring a picnic.
π‘ Our Take
Carrick Bay, nestled in the scenic landscapes of Dumfries and Galloway, offers a dog-friendly haven all year round. With its soft golden sands perfect for curious paws, it provides ample space for both energetic puppies and gentle strolls with older dogs. Parking is conveniently located nearby, and while there are no immediate facilities, the surrounding natural beauty makes up for it. Swimming here is safe, though always keep an eye on the tides. An ideal spot for adventurous dogs and their families, Carrick Bay's tranquil setting is perfect for anxious pooches needing a peaceful retreat. Remember to pack water and snacks!
