About This Place
This small sand and rock beach is found a short walk from Carnoustie Railway Station, about 10 miles north of Dundee. The beach slopes gently into the sea, and at high tide the water can come all the way up to the sea wall.ย At low tide the distance to the waterโs edge can be as much as 300 metres, so it is best to check the tide times before visiting. --> There are a number of golf courses in the area, including the famous Carnoustie Golf Course, which has hosted the Open Championships. There is a choice of car parks close by, and a leisure centre and childrenโs play area with a paddling pool is just behind the beach. There are three access points to the beach, the main one being from the boat club, from which steps and a slipway lead onto the beach. From here it is a 2-mile stroll along the sands to Buddon Ness. See the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency website for latest water quality test results for this beach. Shops, places to eat and other limited facilities can be found in the small town of Carnoustie.
๐ก Our Take
Looking for a fantastic, freely accessible dog beach in Angus, Scotland? Carnoustie Beach is a year-round winner for sandy paws! The soft sand makes it gentle on sensitive pads, and with no seasonal restrictions, playtime is always on. Parking is available nearby, making access a breeze. While there aren't specific facilities on the beach itself, Carnoustie town has cafes a short walk away. Be mindful of the tides, especially when swimming, and stick to calmer areas. This beach is ideal for confident swimmers and energetic dogs who love a good run! Tip, keep your dog on a lead nearby other beach users.
