About This Place

Thorney Bay beach is a small, sheltered sandy beach on Canvey Island. To the rear of the beach is a large flat grassy area with a play park, ideal when the kids have had enough of making sand castles (for which the sand here is particularly good!) --> The beach faces into the River Thames estuary a few miles upstream from the sea. There are great views across to the Kent coast across the river and it is an ideal spot for watching the ships come and go up the Thames.
