About This Place

Just east of Camber Sands is the lesser known Broomhill. Whilst it may not be nestled amongst the sand dunes in quite the way as its neighbour Broomhill is still one of the best beaches around. --> There aren’t much in the way of facilities at Broomhill but there is an ice cream van during the summer months. At low tide the beach here is very flat and sandy expanse with the sea seemingly miles away. This makes it ideal for activities that require plenty of space such as sand-buggies. When the wind isn’t up it’s a perfect spot for a paddle.Broomhill is also one of the most popular kitesurfing destinations on the coast. Even if you aren’t experienced you can get lessons and hire equipment from the Kitesurf Centre here. This eastern end of the beach is also known as Jury’s Gap which is believed to be rooted in medieval times and was originally Jew’s Gate. At the time Jewish merchants from Rye and Winchelsea used the beach to land goods. Whether this was to avoid duties or because they were forbidden to do so at the nearby ports is not known.

💡 Our Take

Broomhill Sands, near Camber in East Sussex, is a fantastic year-round dog-friendly beach! The vast expanse of firm sand makes it ideal for energetic dogs to run and play. Parking is usually readily available nearby. There aren't immediate facilities on the beach, so pack water and poo bags. Swimming can be risky with strong currents, so keep a close eye on your adventurous swimmers. Perfect for big dogs who love to gallop and burn energy, remember to bring a long lead if recall isn't perfect, especially when other beachgoers are around. We highly recommend it!
