About This Place
The mostly sandy beach of Brighouse Bay is about 300 meters long with a number of rocky sections. It sits at the northern end of this long, narrow, and sheltered bay.Β --> The beach here offers excellent views of the surrounding rural area, as well as the opportunity to explore rockpools on the outcrops that jut into the sea here. The main attractions of the beach and the surrounding area are the rural views and the opportunities for walkers. A circular walk starts at the beach, before travelling along the cliff tops and then inland.Β The beach has its own car park in amongst a wooded area at the western end. In the car park, visitors will find toilets, and a short track leading through the trees to the beach. To the west of the beach is a holiday park and Brighouse Bay Golf Club.
π‘ Our Take
Looking for a brilliant dog beach in Scotland? DogParkUK recommends Brighouse Bay, Borgue! Your furry friend can roam free all year round on this sandy Dumfries and Galloway gem. With unrestricted access, even reactive dogs can unwind. Parking is available nearby, though local facilities are limited, so pack supplies! The shallow water makes it ideal for paddling pups, but always supervise your dog closely, especially with moving tides. Brighouse Bay is paw-fect if you want to escape for a quieter spot. It's best enjoyed by confident swimmers and dogs who love a good run.
