About This Place

Not far from the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant, Braystones is a shingle and sand beach which is more or less submerged at high tide. --> The beach was once a popular holiday destination and a row of beach bungalows lie just above the shoreline. Braystones railway station lies just behind these chalets, and the single-track coastal railway runs alongside the beach. The industrial buildings of Sellafield can be seen from the beach and behind them lie the fells of the nearby Lake District National Park. Out to sea are views from the beach across the Irish Sea.As the beach is west-facing it is a good spot for sunsets.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Looking for an unspoiled coastal escape for you and your furry friend? DogParkUK recommends Braystones Beach! Located in Cumbria, this sandy swathe welcomes dogs year-round, so there are no seasonal restrictions! Parking is available nearby for convenient access. While facilities are limited, the expanse of sand offers ample space for playful pups. Before letting your dog swim, carefully check the tide as calmer conditions are preferable. This beach is ideal for energetic dogs who love a good run, but maybe less suited for overly anxious pups due to the open nature of the space. Bring water and a towel – happy tails await!
