About This Place

At high tide this appears to be a sloping shingle beach divided by a series of wooden groynes.  Come here when the tide is out and you’ll be rewarded with a three-mile expanse of clean, golden sand. --> The waters quality here is good and the shallowness of the waters combine to make Borth a popular destination for families as well as watersports enthusiasts.  Both the Ceredigion and the Wales coastal paths pass close to the beach and the area offers visitors a number of good walks.Borth has an RNLI Lifeboat Station and there is a lifeguard presence on the beach during the peak summer season. At the southern end of the beach lies a submerged forest and in certain conditions the remains of petrified tree stumps can be found here at low tide. Beyond this tall cliffs tower above the bay.Local legend tells of Cantre’r Gwaelood, a lost kingdom from which church bells are believed by some to be heard to ring out in times of danger.Free parking can be found around the village.  The car park at the Community Hall has a small children’s play area.

💡 Our Take

Borth Beach in Ceredigion is a fantastic year-round spot for dog lovers, boasting vast stretches of golden sand perfect for big dogs and energetic puppies. With no restrictions on dog access, your furry friend can enjoy off-leash frolics to their heart's content. Convenient parking is available nearby, and facilities in the town ensure you have everything needed for a full day out. Swimming is generally safe, but be mindful of occasional strong currents, especially if your dog loves the water. Borth Beach’s openness is soothing for anxious dogs seeking a calming environment. It's truly a dog-friendly haven worth visiting!
