Beacon Hill Beach (Harwich)
π Harwich, Essex
About This Place
This shingle beach stretches down from Beacon Cliffs in a south-westerly direction, just to the south of the estuaries of the Stour and Orwell rivers.Β The beach has views towards the cranes and industrial buildings of Felixstowe. --> The estuary is known to have been fortified since at least Roman times.Β At the north-eastern end of the beach, one finds the solitary buildings of Beacon Hill Fort. There has been a fort on this exact spot since the time of Henry VIIIth.Β In the Second World War, a gun battery, known as Cornwallis Battery was built here.Β Today most of the remains of the fort are inaccessible, but the former radar tower is generally open to the public in summer, for a small entrance fee, on one Sunday each month.
π‘ Our Take
Beacon Hill Beach in Harwich, Essex, is a dog lover's paradise where furry friends are welcome all year round. The soft, sandy shores offer ample space for dogs to frolic and enjoy themselves. With no parking facilities directly on the beach, it's advisable to prepare for a short walk from nearby parking spots. This beach is ideal for puppies and big dogs alike, providing a relaxed atmosphere for those who might be anxious in busier settings. While the gentle waves are generally safe, always exercise caution and keep an eye on your pup near the water. Happy tails await at Beacon Hill Beach!
