About This Place

Dalgety Bay lies on the north banks of the Firth of Forth, across from Edinburgh.  A popular sailing club, which organises racing and training events, can be found to the east. --> This little rural beach is a mix of sand, shingle and rocks.  It has been reported that the mussel beds off this beach were contaminated with radiation, thought to derive from luminous aircraft dials deposited in a nearby landfill site close by, after the Second World War.  It is estimated that the Ministry of Defence are spending around £10 million on decontaminating the site and it is hoped that this project will be completed in 2018.  Swimming is not recommended here.  See warning signs on site for more up to date information.

However, be cautious as there are no lifeguards on duty, so swimming should be supervised, especially for water-loving breeds.
