Bay of Sannick Beach
📍 Wick, Orkney
About This Place
Sitting between John O’Groats and Duncansby Head Lighthouse, Sannick beach is very nearly the most northerly in mainland Britain. It is somewhat ironic that this remote spot has become more well known because of its remoteness. It is about half a mile from the iconic signpost at John O’Groats so well worth a stroll if you are visiting. --> Sannick Bay is a lovely crescent of white sand backed by low, grassy dunes. Overlooking the Pentland Firth this is a great place for spotting wildlife. Seals are a regular sight with dolphins a bit rarer. If you are here at the right time of year though you may be lucky enough to spot one of the variety of whales that pass here. This is also no shortage of seabirds at Sannick so keep your eyes peeled for puffins, razorbills, fulmars, kittiwakes and guillemots.
💡 Our Take
Hey DogParkUK friends, looking for a sandy Scottish escape? We recommend the Bay of Sannick Beach! Sadly, we have little description of the dog-friendly haven in Scotland. But, rumour has it that dogs LOVE this beach year-round, making it perfect for endless games of fetch on the sand. Keep a lead handy, as the water safety is unknown. If you've visited, let us know what nearby facilites there may be. Ideal for energetic pups and water-loving breeds in the UK, its sandy expanse could be a delight. Just remember to pack water and poo bags!
