Bantham Beach
๐ Kingsbridge, Devon
About This Place
Situated at the mouth of the River Avon, Bantham beach looks out over Bigbury and Burgh Island. Backed by sand dunes and the rolling hills of the South Hams, Bantham has little trouble fitting in with the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. --> Bantham is an ideal family beach; a wide expanse of shallow sloping sands, rock pools and plenty of facilities such as the โGastrobusโ serving snacks and drinks, a pub and a cafe. There is also a seasonal lifeguard service making this a safe option. Bantham also has a reputation as one of the best surfing beaches in South Devon. Admittedly there arenโt too many spots around here but it can get quite good on the right conditions. If you fancy giving surfing a try the Bantham Surfing Academy is a good place to start. The beach here is actually privately owned along with the village. Formerly part of the Evans Estates it was sold in 2014 for an estimated ยฃ11.5 million to a mystery family. However, this does not affect public access.
๐ก Our Take
Bantham Beach in Devon is a brilliant year-round spot for your furry friends! Dogs are welcome on its beautiful, soft sands no matter the season. There's plenty of space for a good run, although parking can get busy, so arrive early! Swimmers should be mindful of currents. While facilities are limited *on* the beach itself, nearby Bantham village has shops and pubs. It's perfect for energetic dogs and families who love a classic beach day. Tip: keep a close eye, especially during high tide. Gentle pups might prefer quieter times. We think you'll love it!
