Auchmithie Beach
π Arbroath, Angus
About This Place
Auchmithie Beach, located directly in front of the village, is a rugged and peaceful spot. This pebble and rock beach sits at the base of towering cliffs to either end, giving the beach a somewhat wild and dramatic feel. --> The cliffs surrounding Auchmithie are rich in geological interest, with fascinating rock formations and caves that have been carved out by the relentless power of the North Sea. The area is also a haven for wildlife, with seabirds frequently seen nesting on the cliffs and the occasional chance to spot seals in the waters. Auchmithie has some local historic significance as the birthplace of the βArbroath Smokie,β a traditional smoked haddock dish. The village above the beach was once a bustling fishing community, and remnants of its past, including the old harbour, can still be found at the southern end of the beach.
π‘ Our Take
Auchmithie Beach in Angus is a hidden gem! We at DogParkUK love that dogs are welcome year-round on this sandy stretch. The parking is limited, so arrive early, especially on weekends. Though there are no facilities directly on the beach, the village is a short walk away. The waves here can be a little choppy so supervise your dog carefully if theyβre swimming. This beach is perfect for well-socialized dogs who enjoy a good run and a dip in the sea. The open space makes it an ideal spot, just be wary of the strong current in the sea! Make the most of the beach today!
