About This Place

Albion Sands is a secluded little sandy beach just west of the better known Marloes Sands. In fact the easiest access is from the beach at Marloes via a scramble over the rocks between Gateholm Island and the coast. --> In many ways Albion is a miniature version of neighbouring Marloes Sands. There is the same abundance of wildlife and interesting geology. What it lacks though is the vast low tide expansiveness. Another similarity is the importance of watching the tides. If you did make your way around from Marloes Sands then leaving it too late could mean a scrabble up the steep cliff β€œpath”. The name of the beach comes from the paddle steamer Albion which ran aground here in 1837 whilst en route from Dublin. As well as 400 pigs the Albion was carrying enough whisky to keep Pembrokshire drunk for a year! At low tide the ship\β€˜s shaft can still be seen protruding from the sand.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Albion Sands, tucked away in Pembrokeshire near Milford Haven, is a true gem for dog lovers. Accessible from Marloes beach during low tide, this secluded treasure welcomes dogs year-round, offering a vast expanse of sand perfect for playful puppies and energetic big dogs alike. The lack of restrictions makes it ideal for those with anxious dogs seeking a quieter escape. However, parking can be tricky, so arrive early for the best spots. Swimming is safe but always keep an eye on the tides. DogParkUK recommends this serene spot for its unspoiled nature and dog-friendly embrace along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
