About This Place

This small, sandy beach sits on the Afon Afan (River Afan) estuary, close to Port Talbot docks and the Tata Steelworks.  There is a promenade, with a couple of cafes and restaurants nearby.  --> A lido used to exist here, which was burnt down in 2009.  £13.4 million was spent building a new sports complex with an 8-lane swimming pool.  The beach is used for fishing, and nearby Swansea Bay, with its great tidal range is popular with surfers and other watersport enthusiasts.

💡 Our Take

Afan Beach in Port Talbot is a delightful haven for dog lovers looking to enjoy picturesque, sandy expanses. Nestled in this charming Welsh locale, it offers a liberating space with no seasonal restrictions, making it perfect year-round for all pups, especially bigger or more energetic dogs. The golden sand is an ideal playground, though swimmers should keep an eye on tides and currents for safety. Convenient parking is available nearby, but do note the absence of on-site facilities. A perfect escape for shy or anxious canines seeking calm. We at DogParkUK highly recommend this serene beach for a memorable outing.
