About This Place

This beautiful expanse of pale golden sand is frequently cited as one of Scotland\β€˜s finest beaches. Set in a remote, granite lined inlet a few miles north of Achiltibuie the beach here is deeper than it is wide. --> The backdrop to the beach is equally stunning. Beyond the grassy dunes are views of the mountains Canisp, Suilven and Stac Pollaidh. Despite the stunning scenery it never gets busy in this area. This makes it something of a haven for wildlife with the Inverpolly Nature Reserve occupying much of the adjacent land. The reserve is home to wild cats, pine martens and golden eagles. Achnahaird Bay was used as a filming location for the 2011 feature film The Eagle, with a horse chase scene shot across the beach.

πŸ’‘ Our Take

Nestled in the stunning landscape of Wester Ross, Achnahaird Beach in Scotland is a haven for dogs of all sizes, offering vast stretches of golden sand perfect for year-round play. Its untouched beauty is ideal for both energetic puppies and older, anxious dogs looking for a tranquil escape. Parking is conveniently nearby, but do pack essentials as facilities are sparse. While the waters can be inviting, be cautious of strong currents during high tide. This picturesque beach is perfect for a serene walk or a lively game of fetch, ensuring a delightful day out for your four-legged friend.
