🌊 Sussex Dog-Friendly Beaches

Sussex has two distinct stretches: the sandy beach at Camber Sands (East Sussex) and the more shingle-pebble beaches that characterise much of the Sussex coastline.

Camber Sands & East Sussex

• Camber Sands — The standout sandy beach in East Sussex. 2.5 miles of dunes and sand, dogs welcome year-round. One of the most popular beaches in the southeast.
• Greatstone-on-Sea — Adjacent to Camber Sands; links to Romney Sands
• Winchelsea Beach — Secluded beach on the Romney Marshes

Brighton & Hove

• Brighton Beach — Dog-friendly on the eastern side (past Palace Pier towards Rottingdean). Dogs also allowed on Hove beach during certain hours.
• Rottingdean Beach — Under the iconic cliffs; dog-friendly sections
• Kemp Town — Rocky beach area with good walks

Eastbourne & Hastings Coast

• Eastbourne Beach — Victorian seafront; dogs allowed on eastern sections
• Beachy Head — Dramatic cliffs with walks, though the beach itself is not accessible
• Hastings & St Leonards — Traditional seaside; dogs allowed on most of the shingle beach year-round

🌊 Kent Dog-Friendly Beaches

Kent's coastline stretches from the white cliffs of Dover to the Thames estuary. The area is known for its maritime heritage, crabbing harbours, and excellent seafood pubs.

Whitstable & Herne Bay

• Whitstable Beach — The classic Kent beach town. Dogs allowed on the beach throughout — Whitstable is famously dog-friendly. The harbour is perfect for crabbing and the town has excellent fish and chip shops and pubs.
• Herne Bay — 2 miles of promenade and beach; dogs welcome in many sections
• Seasalter — Quieter beach north of Whitstable

Kent Coast — Dover to Ramsgate

• Whitby Bay — More pebbles than sand; dog-friendly sections
• Botany Bay — Near Broadstairs; beautiful bay, dogs welcome
• Joss Bay — Broadstairs; dogs allowed in certain areas
• Sandwich Bay — Two golf courses and a quiet beach; dogs welcome

Folkestone & Hythe

• Folkestone Beach — The renovated Creative Quarter beach; dog-friendly areas
• Hythe Beach — Long promenade; dogs welcome on the beach
• Dover Beach — Dogs allowed on the beach below the white cliffs

🍺 End Your Beach Day at a South Coast Pub

The south coast has excellent dog-friendly pubs. In Sussex, try The Cricketers in Arlington or The Eight Bells in Alfriston. In Kent, The Jetfield in Whitstable, The Sportsman in Queens Park, and The Red Lion in Chilham are firm favourites.
